Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has said that the state government has made substantial investment in rural infrastructure, and close to Rs. 120 crore has been earmarked for the construction of new block offices.
“Close to 60 percent of these new block offices will be completed and inaugurated within this year,” Sangma said during the inauguration of a newly constructed building for the Betasing C&RD Block in South Garo Hills today.
He said that the government is committed to upgrade rural infrastructure to ensure the effective delivery of public services. “With this objective in mind, we are constructing new block offices, renovating and building Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Community Health Centres (CHCs), and upgrading Government Lower Primary Schools across the state,” Sangma said.
To further enhance the functionality and accessibility of block offices, the Chief Minister Sangma directed the Deputy Commissioner to submit proposals for additional infrastructure.
“We want to ensure that when people visit the block offices, they have a comfortable place to sit and wait. The whole idea is that people should receive good services without facing any difficulty. Our endeavour is to serve the people,” he added.
C&RD Minister Abu Taher Mondal, MLAs Sanjay A. Sangma, Ian Botham K. Sangma, and Subir Marak were also present on the occasion.
