The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, South Garo Hills concluded its five-day vocational training program on “Value addition of locally available fruits” under 100 Days Action Plan.
The training was organised in collaboration with Meghalaya State Rural Livelihoods Society, BMMU, Chokpot which commenced on September 9
Altogether, 50 farmers from Chokpot sub-division had actively participated in the training programme which was aimed to enhance local agriculture by reducing post-harvest losses and fostering entrepreneurship.
The newly acquired skills are expected to boost local economies and promote sustainable agricultural practices in the district.
The training programme focused on value addition of locally available fruits such as Te.kring, Chinara, Assam lemon (Kakji), Aonla (Ambare) and Tomato (Baringbaliti).
Participants were also engaged in hands-on training in processing and preservation of Te.kring pickle, Chinara Ready to Serve (RTS) drinks, Assam lemon Squash, Tomato ketchup and Aonla pickle.
