Under the Model Code of Conduct for the upcoming Lok Sabha 2024 election, authorities are undertaking checks and initiating seizures in the form of cash, alcohol, drugs, other items.
Yesterday it was informed by Meghalaya’s Chief Electoral Officer that Rs 4 crore in cash and other items had been seized from March 16 up to April 1.
In an update today, the CEO informed that yesterday alone cash of Rs 5.46 lakh and 3,920.92 litres of alcohol (valued at Rs 5.37 lakh) had been seized. In addition, 2,778 “other items” were also seized valued at Rs 1.11 lakh for a total value of Rs 11.95 lakh.
