Police arrested three persons for allegedly attacking a farmer of Moolang village, after she demanded compensation for the loss of rice crop due to coal mining near her paddy field.
The three persons are Michal Siangshai, Mikhel Siangshai and Ngait Dkhar.
East Jaiñtia Hills Additional Superintendent of Police, Banraplang Jyrwa said a case has been registered and all the three persons have been arrested even as investigation is on.
“Her security is paramount. We have directed the thana to conduct regular patrolling near her house,” Jyrwa said.
The farmer, Rida Dkhar had filed a FIR at the Ladrymbai police outpost after she was attacked this morning at around 6 am.
An FIR by her said that she was washing clothes near her residence when she was physically assaulted by Michal Siangshai, Mikhel Siangshai and Ngiat Dkhar, the sons and husband respectively of the coal mine owner, Riyo Siangshai. She said she escaped being killed as her screams for help were heard by her husband and sons who rescued her.
Dkhar said last night Mikhel had called her husband over the phone with death threats and abusive language. She said he threatened to kill her and throw her dead body on the road, similar to the woman killed in Umtyra.
