Three persons have been arrested by police for the assault of a mother and son duo following a dispute over payment for a soft drink at Mahadev Khola yesterday.
The arrest was made after identification was made through the CCTV footage, police said.
“We identified the miscreants involved in the incident, and on July 24 night launched an operation and apprehended three persons, along with two juvenile boys,” East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Sylvester Nongtnger said.
He said a case has been registered at Lumdienjri Police station, and the three persons will be produced before the court.
Police said they are investigating all aspects to find out if the arrested persons are linked to some groups but maintained that the incident is not linked to religious animosity.
