More than 400 polling stations in Meghalaya have been identified as ‘critical’ and ‘vulnerable’.
This was stated by Chief Electoral Officer B D R Tiwari after his meeting with representatives of political parties here yesterday.
Tiwari said 29 polling stations have been identified as ‘critical’ and 477 as ‘vulnerable’.
The Election Commission has deployed 40 companies of CRPF personnel and State police personnel to ensure security and peaceful polling on April 19 when the State goes to vote for the two parliamentary constituencies – Shillong and Tura.
The State has a total of 3512 polling stations. 140 of these are located close to the border with Bangladesh and 187 close to the border with Assam.
