Altogether 24 drug users from the state have been sent for rehabilitation to Assam by the Hynñiewtrep Youths’ Council till date.
Admission of drug users to the Alive Again Foundation rehabilitation centre in Assam is an initiative undertaken by the pressure group as a step towards fighting the growing menace of drugs in the state.
Today, three drug users were dropped to the centre with the consent from their families, the HYC said.
Secretary Isaac W Basaiawmoit said the organisation had pledged to wage a war against the menace of drugs in every nook and corner of the state. He said the HYC not only conduct drives to seize and dispose contraband drugs but to bring back drug users to the mainstream with the support of their families.
He said the organisation appreciates the support from the public and the families in combating drugs in the society.
