The Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority organised the National Lok Adalat on Saturday in all the districts of Meghalaya under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and under the patronage of the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court, Justice Sanjib Banerjee, and under the supervision of Justice HS Thangkhiew, the executive chairman of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority.
At the Lok Adalat, 862 pre-litigation cases and 478 pending cases were taken up for settlement. The total number of cases taken up were 1,340 of which 220 were settled for a total amount of Rs 1.06 crore, a press release informed today.
