Rozgar Mela (Employment Meet) was held at headquarters of Directorate General of Assam Rifles, Laitkor here today wherein Union Minister of State for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma distributed appointment letters to 218 new recruits from Meghalaya.

Through this Rozgar Mela event, the Ministry of Home Affairs is recruiting personnel in various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) such as Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Sahashtra Seema Bal (SSB), Assam Rifles, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Narcotics control Bureau (NCB) as well as Delhi Police.  The new recruits, selected from across the country, will be joining the various positions such as Constable (General Duty), Sub-Inspector (General Duty) and Non–General Duty Cadre Posts in various organisations under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

One of the new recruits to BSF from Meghalaya, Baiahunlang Syngkli, said, “I am very happy and the glory goes to God. I am happy about getting this job because I have been working hard from the beginning.”

She exhorted the youth to be hard working and work for the county and the society as a whole.

Another recruit from Meghalaya, Parbati Hajong thanked the Prime Minister for the opportunity to join the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and providing the appointment letters on the spot.

She said, “I am very happy today to be present here and we have been handed over the joining letters by hand. My mother would also be very happy to witness this. I will deliver my duties with full dedication. I want to extend my gratitude to the Prime Minister. We are getting a chance to join the force. There cannot be anything happier than this.”

Extending his heartiest congratulations to the newly recruits, Verma said, “In 2047 when India will be celebrating the 100 years of its Independence, the youth who came to the forces today would have reached new heights in their career, therefore the Prime Minister has also expressed the hope that these new recruits will work with dedication to serve the nation and the general public and would become worthy citizen of this nation.”

The Union Minister, while expressing his delight for the successful organisation of the Rozgar Mela, said that the process is on for providing 10 lakh government jobs to youth in different ministries and departments of the central government.

“This is a crucial step fulfilling the continuous efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards ensuring job opportunities for the youth without nepotism and corruption,” Verma said.

The Union minister also appreciated the efforts put forward by the government in providing the opportunities to the youth to appear for the recruitment examinations in local languages. He opined that this effort will enable youths from different parts of the country to appear in the examinations as examinations are being conducted in 13 local languages in places of English or Hindi as was the case earlier.

Highlighting that the Rozgar Mela is a significant addition to the various initiatives of the central government, Verma said that with the addition of more than 51,000 appointments today around five lakhs youth have been provided appointment letters during the 8 numbers of Rozgar Melas so far.

The Union minister appealed to the newly recruits that they should always remember to work for the welfare and service of their countrymen.
