Police have arrested two individuals on suspicion of a murder carried out in Laitkor on Tuesday night.
The victim was identified as William Nongrum (36), a resident of Khanduli, police said in a press release today. The identities of the suspects were not revealed.
It was on Tuesday at around 11pm that police were informed about an unconscious man lying on the roadside in Laitkor. On reaching the spot, police found him lying in a pool of blood within the compound of a vehicle workshop belonging to one Farid Mawrie.
Injuries had been sustained by the man on his head and he appeared dead by the time police reached the spot. Suspecting foul play, the Crime Scene Unit was called in to gather evidence and a steering wheel found at the scene is thought to have been the murder weapon. Some alcohol was also found at the spot.
The following day Nongrum’s body was taken to NEIGRIHMS where he was identified by family members and the body was subsequently handed over to the relatives after all formalities were completed.
A police case has been registered at Madanrting police station and the two suspects were arrested less than 48 hours after the crime was committed.
