Details of a new species of mushroom has been published in a research article of the journal Fungal Diversity.
The research article is a collaboration between mycologists from around the world. The title of the article is “Fungal diversity notes 1919–2016: taxonomic and phylogenetic contributions to fungal taxa”.
The name of the new species is Russula pseudovirescens and was collected from East Khasi Hills. The pseudovirescens in the name refers to its morphological similarity to R virescens.
Another species, Multifurca pseudofurcata, was found for the first time in India and was collected along the Rhododendron Trek near Shillong.
