Khliehriat, Dec 30: The body of a man, with a burnt back, was recovered from a cowshed Lakasien Pohphang village, East Jaintia Hills police said today.
The deceased, currently identified only by the name Justin, was found dead on December 29 with an 80 per cent burn mark on his back, at around 5:30 pm.
Police said Preliminary reports indicate the deceased had been employed at the cowshed for about one month and no personal details or identification documents were found at the scene.
The deceased was wearing a red T-shirt, blue jacket, green pants, undergarment and a black Quartz wristwatch
Police said after an inquest and post mortem the body has been kept at the Civil Hospital Mortuary room in Khliehriat.
Meanwhile, a decomposed body of an unidentified man was found floating on Saitharlong River under Umpleng Police Out-Post on December 27 at around 11:05 am.
Police said no locals were able to identify the deceased. He was wearing a black T-Shirt labelled, ‘Monkey D-LUFFY’, short pants with three yellow stripes on both sides and had a stitched mark on the left forehead and on the back of the head.
The body has been kept at the Civil Hospital Khliehriat morgue for identification and claim.
