Two youths from Meghalaya were presented with the National Bravery Award for their meritorious acts of bravery in saving the lives of their fellows.
The award is given annually to children below 18 years for meritorious acts of bravery and given through the Indian Council for Child Welfare (ICCW).
The two from the state who got the award this year are Former Khongjri from Umkrem village of East Khasi Hills and Wanlambok Rani from Umden Arka village of Ri-Bhoi.
They received the awards from Maj Gen Vikram Dev Dogra on January 25 in New Delhi.
On their return to Meghalaya, they were felicitated at Nongpoh by the Hill Farmers Union.
