The driver of an Assam-registered truck and that of a Meghalaya vehicle were left injured after a head-on collision today morning.
According to police, the accident occurred at around 9:35am on the Sohiong Bypass, East Khasi Hills.
The local van, driven by Steward Kurbah (55), was coming from Umsohiong village and was proceeding towards Lad Mawreng when a truck loaded with potatoes coming from the opposite direction hit it at Traw.
The driver of the truck has been identified as Basirdin Ahmed (30) of Barpeta, Assam. He was reportedly driving on the wrong side of the road at the time of the crash, police added.
Both drivers were taken to hospitals in Shillong – Kurbah to Supercare Hospital and Ahmed to Shillong Civil Hospital.
