Troops of the 22nd Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) in Meghalaya in a joint operation with police apprehended two Bangladeshi nationals near the bordering area of West Garo Hills district.
The arrested persons are identified as Taharul Islam (23) of Chapainawabganj district and Md. Sayed (30) of Rajshahi district.
The BSF said, during questioning both individuals revealed that they had crossed into India via the border in Murshidabad, West Bengal, approximately six months ago. They subsequently travelled to Chennai, where they worked as masons at a construction site.
An FIR was lodged and the apprehended persons were handed over to Dalu Police Station for further legal action.
