A 17-year old girl was allegedly kidnapped by a man from Permadan village in Eastern West Khasi Hills district, police said today.
According to police, a complaint was received on August 18 at Mairang police station that Ribaiahun Marngar had gone missing on August 15 at around 10 am from a shop where she worked at Permadan village.
“The girl is suspected to have been kidnapped by Thomborlang Sohphoh of Umdum village and till date their whereabouts are not known,” a statement from Eastern West Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police said.
While efforts are on to trace the missing girl a case has also been registered under Section 137(1)(b)(2) Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police said the girl is five feet with long black hair and was last seen wearing a white blouse with black printed stars, brown Khasi traditional jainkyrshah with white stripes and black pants.
