Altogether 13 climbers have been selected to represent the state at the North East Zone Sport Climbing Competition to be held at IIE, Guwahati from July 22 to 24.
The climbers were selected during a two day camp organised by the Meghalaya Sport Climbing & Mountaineering Association (MeSCMA) at the Artificial Climbing Wall of the Assam Regimental Centre (ARC), sponsored by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs.
In the women category the climbers selected are Ngandarihun Sohshang of Mawprem and Indalin Lyngdoh of Upper Lumparing. Teimiki Sungoh of Shangpung, Rikcy Rani of Swer, Balawan Habor Rynjah of Pdeng Raid Border Area Secondary School, Keliostar Pdai and Rajeshphar Pdai, both of Lyting Larbri in the men’s category.
The climbers for the sub junior girls are Dadapbiang Lyngdoh and Pynkmenlang Lyngdoh of Laban Presbyterian Higher Secondary School and Iaphilarisa Syiemlieh of Bethesda English Secondary School, Mawiong.
In the sub-junior boys, the climbers are Mebandonlang Umsong of Lyngkyrdem Presbyterian English School, Kyrmenskhem Lyngdoh of Lumparing Vidyapith Secondary School.
Leadingstar Kharbudon of Seng Khasi LP School, Laitlyngkot was selected for the junior boys category.
Meanwhile, three members of the association—Kayleigh Petra Nongkynrih, Bakordor Umsong and Ibakordor Shisha Mary Sawian—will officiate at the Zonal competition as judge, route setter and belayer respectively.
The association in a press statement has expressed its gratitude to the Commandant of the Assam Regimental Centre, Happy Valley for providing the training space.
