Altogether 13 Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended by the Border Security Force (BSF), Meghalaya frontier, officials said today.
The BSF said the Bangladeshi nationals were arrested for smuggling activities yesterday during a special operation conducted at various locations along the international border in East Khasi Hills, East Jaiñtia Hills and South Garo Hills districts.
Items worth Rs 10.50 lakh were seized that included 35 bags of sugar along with other contraband items, including liquor, tea, copper wire, local cigarettes, skin cream, blankets, garlic, and other edible items.
The apprehended individuals were handed over to Dawki Police Station, West Jaintia Hills District, for further legal action after a medical examination at PHC Dawki, the BSF added.
