More than 10,000 people have registered for the Trinamool Congress’s ‘WE Card’, or the Meghalaya Financial Inclusion for Women Empowerment Scheme (MFI WE).
The Meghalaya TM is on a massive outreach campaign, which has resulted in 10,000-plus registrations in just two days, according to the party. The flagship scheme announced by Meghalaya TMC assures a guaranteed income support of Rs 1,000 every month to one woman in each household in the state.
Today, North Shillong TMC block president Elgiva Gwyneth Rynjah urged more women to register for the scheme, and said, “I urge each and every female of the state to kindly enroll for the scheme to avail benefits from the year 2023 if Meghalaya TMC is voted to power.”
The scheme is universal and aims to benefit each of the 5.5 lakh households across the state irrespective of religion, caste, class, or income bracket. It has, the party said, been curated keeping in mind the heavy losses that the state economy suffered due to Covid-incurred losses, “alongside misgovernance and several scams perpetrated by the current NPP-led MDA government”.
