The Zeliangrong Welfare Society, Shillong (ZWSS) has demanded exemplary punishment of attackers responsible for the brutal murder of three farmers at Lamhainamdi Village, Peren District, Nagaland on March 22.
In a press release issued here today, the society while condemning the attack said that the attackers evidently armed with prohibited bore firearms and other dangerous weapons trespassed on the village land of Lamhainamdi and committed the crime of utmost savagery and barbarity without any fear or regard for the laws of the land.
“The churches and civil Societies representing communities must seriously look into this depravity which will ultimate harm the society at large,” the society said urging concerned authorities to immediately investigate with fairness and objectivity and bring the killers to justice in accordance with the law of the land. “The punishment must be exemplary,” they said.
While condoling the families of the farmers, the society says that it stands in solidarity with them and those who stand and fight for justice and peace.
