Shillong, Feb 3: Three youths have completed a 290km walk from Tura to Shillong, promoting a drug-free and purposeful lifestyle among Meghalaya’s youth.
The ‘Walking with Purpose’ initiative, undertaken by Welkin Stone Shadap, Kyrsoijingtip Ryntathiang and Bashaiphar Shylla, aimed to inspire young people to choose positive paths. Starting January 26, they completed the journey in seven days, walking 35-50km daily.
“This walk is our response to challenges facing today’s youth,” Shadap said, highlighting the importance of discipline, focus and right friendships. The group plans to continue similar activities, including cycling and mountain climbing, to promote healthy choices.
The team thanked government departments, educational institutions and local supporters for backing the initiative, a step towards a healthier society.
