In continuation of their effort to reach out to the most vulnerable sections of the society, a group of youth calling themselves ‘Pathfinders’ went down to villages under Laitkroh Elaka on Friday and donated various essentials and household commodities to the poor and needy families in the village who are facing extreme hardships due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking to Highland Post, Pathfinder president Livingstar Lyngdoh Tron said that the non-profit social group was established in 2016 and is at present run by a circle of 25 friends who provide most of the contributions with help from others as well.
“We have always focused our assistance on the most underprivileged sections of society for several years now and during this Covid-19 pandemic, we learned that several families are on the verge of starvation owing to a lack of income because of all the lockdowns, etc. There is malnutrition and poor health among the poor families and without a means of earning a livelihood the problems have escalated in these trying times,” he observed.
Informing that the group had intensified and tried their level best to reach out to more stricken families since the start of the pandemic in 2020, he said that keeping in mind and following all the Covid protocols strictly, they will continue to contribute the best of their ability to help the poor and needy.
He expressed hope in humanity while stating that he is delighted to see that many good Samaritans are making a contribution to help people in need in these dark days because of the coronavirus.
