Shillong, Mar 29: The 1st ALTUS Badminton Prize Money Tournament 2026, organised by ALTUS Badminton Academy, concluded at Glade’s Sports Arena, Mawroh, following two days of competitive matches and strong participation from young shuttlers.
The open-format tournament, which was held on March 27-28, featured U-11, U-13 and U-15 categories, with approximately 88 singles and doubles matches. The event aimed to give a competitive platform to emerging players.
The closing ceremony was attended by Adelbert Nongrum MLA and Denzil Raynard Chen MDC, who acknowledged the importance of such initiatives in promoting sports at the grassroots level.
The tournament witnessed several impressive performances across categories, with Lateisha Nongtraw standing out by securing titles in both the U-13 and U-15 girls’ singles events.
Two Most Promising Player awards were distributed at the closing ceremony. These went to Ezariah KD Dkhar (boys) and Gianna Warlarpih (girls).
