The Art of Living, Shillong Chapter, in collaboration with Buddha Bhanu Saraswati (BBS) College, Shillong today organised a remarkable Yogathon on the eve of International Day of Yoga. The event took place from 7am to 9am, commencing at Garikhana Point and concluding at the BBS College, with the scenic route encompassing Rhino Point, IGP Point, Police Bazar, and Motphran area.
International Day of Yoga, celebrated annually on June 21, is a globally recognised event that highlights the significance of yoga in fostering a balanced and healthy lifestyle. Declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014, this day serves as a reminder of the timeless wisdom and profound benefits that yoga offers to individuals across the world. The Art of Living and Buddha Bhanu Saraswati College seized the opportunity to commemorate this auspicious occasion by organising a Yogathon that brought the Shillong community together in unity and harmony.
The Yogathon served as a captivating platform for yoga enthusiasts, practitioners, and individuals passionate about health and well-being to unite in their quest for holistic living. Celebrating the art of yoga and its numerous benefits, the event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of yoga in achieving physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
Participants from all walks of life, including students, faculty members, local residents, and individuals from various organisations, came together to embrace the joy of practicing yoga in unison. With the serene backdrop of Shillong’s picturesque landscapes, the Yogathon created an ambiance of tranquility, fostering a deeper connection with the self and the surrounding community.
Under the guidance of experienced yoga instructors, attendees engaged in a series of yoga asanas, pranayama techniques, and meditation exercises. The event emphasised the significance of a regular yoga practice in promoting inner peace, enhancing flexibility and strength, and reducing stress and anxiety in today’s fast-paced world.
