With Meghalaya having recorded a few new Covid-19 cases as part of a wide increase in infections nationwide, Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh today said that it would be wise for the public to once again follow Covid protocols, such as wearing facemasks.
“We would not want to create any kind of panic among the people but we want them to activate the same old practices for protection against Covid so that it can be contained,” she told Highland Post while adding that the situation is nowhere near as serious as in other parts of the country. “We are just recommending to maintain the Covid protocols because this will be good in the long-run and help us avoid major challenges.”
Meanwhile, on the ongoing heatwave being experienced in parts of Meghalaya, Lyngdoh said that the government will meet to assess the situation.
When asked about outdoor activities in school, she agreed that in such temperatures, outdoor sports, etc should be discouraged for small children.
