A man was arrested by Ri-Bhoi police after a car chase following his attempt to break into a parked truck in the wee hours of today morning.
The truck was parked at ICAR on the Shillong Bypass, Superintendent of Police Giri Prasad told reporters.
On receiving information about the crime in progress, police rushed to the spot but the suspect, Shemborlang Ryntathiang of Umsning, fled in a car towards Shillong. He did not get far, though, and was apprehended.
Two mobile phones, one hammer and a knife were found in his possession. One of the phones was found to have been stolen and was returned to the rightful owner.
