The District Legal Services Authority, Mawkyrwat observed the World Students Day and Legal Awareness Programme cum Screening of Movie today at the premises of the District and Sessions Court, Mawkyrwat.
This is part of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav. Around 23 students and teachers participated in the programme.
E Shabong, Secretary, District Legal Service Authority (DLSA), Mawkyrwat welcomed the students and teachers by giving in details the role and function of the DLSA and the front office in the district in which free legal services are being provided to the marginalised section of the society.
The participants who visited the front office interacted with I Lyngkhoi, Principal Magistrate, Mawkyrwat and were briefed about its functions and informed about the Juvenile Justice Act, POCSO Act, and the overall legal services provided by the court through the District Legal Services Authority.
During the interaction with Lyngkhoi, some of the participants expressed their inspiration and admiration at the services that were being provided by the District Legal Services Authority.
“Free Legal Services”, a movie of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority, Shillong was also screened on the same day.
