A workshop on ‘Deceased Organ Donation’ to raise awareness and knowledge about the subject was held at the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) among the students and teachers of the university.
The workshop was organised by Zublee Foundation and the North Eastern Development Finance Corporation (NEDFi) on March 14, which saw the attendance of over 180 participants.
The event was held under the project ‘VARDAAN’ aimed to illuminate and galvanise action towards organ donation. Zublee Foundation CEO Priyanka Borah led the discourse.
NEHU Dean of Students’ Welfare Prof. RL Nongkhlaw emphasised the historic nature of hosting such an event for the first time. He underscored the importance of organ donation in contemporary society, setting a tone of profound awareness and commitment.
Head of the Department of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics, Prof. S R Joshi highlighted on the vital role of blood and organ donation. Sharing his personal journey as a blood donor, he inspired many to champion the cause. HE urged participants to amplify awareness and take proactive steps in advancing organ donation initiatives.
The workshop transcended disciplinary boundaries, engaging diverse departments including Law, Biotechnology, Architecture, Information Technology, Agriculture, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Chemistry, and others.
