Women and children facing domestic violence have been urged to come forward to receive help at the One Stop Centre located at Ganesh Das Hospital, Lawmali, here.
The facility has been implemented by the Nirbhaya Fund under the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development.
On reviewing the crime data against women and children in Meghalaya, the Centre Administrator has informed that the centre is developing a comprehensive preventive strategy to address the issue concerning the safety and security of women and children.
The scheme will help in “building a cross, multi-sectoral, gender-sensitive approach to violence against women” in Meghalaya and said that it will enable the general public to recognise the critical issues of violence and other forms of gender-based discrimination that women continue to suffer in society, a press release said today.
