A two-day orientation programme on ‘Gender based violence and its prevention’ for students and teachers was organised by Women’s College here to commemorate the 16 days UN Activism.
The programme which concluded on Wednesday was organised by the college in collaboration with the State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW), Social Welfare Department.
State Women’s Commission chairperson, Theilin Phanbuh attended the programme as the resource person along with representatives from the Meghalaya police department, SDPO Sadar Police Station, Supriya Das and B. Jyrwa, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Advocate, Suparna Shyam, from the legal fraternity and representatives from NGOs working in the field of women and child rights, Balarisa Lyngdoh and Shannon Masser from Faith Foundation.
Topics such as gender, women’s rights, cyber crimes and its prevention, sexual harassment in the work place and others were discussed at the orientation programme.
