Women’s College, Shillong organised the International Series of Lectures on the theme “Raja Ram Mohan Roy in Contemporary Times” to commemorate the Sestercentennial Birth Anniversary of the multi-faceted personality, Raja Ram Mohan Roy.
The series of lectures which began on May 17 concluded today in blended mode.
Raja Ram Mohan Roy was a versatile personality who imbibed in him various qualities. He was also the path-finder in different directions. He was regarded a nationalist, an internationalist, an educationist, a diplomat and most significantly the harbinger of women’s empowerment.
The aim of the lectures was to pay homage to the great personality which also brought forth various aspects of the life and contributions of Ram Mohan Roy and the relevance of his ideas in the twenty-first century.
The panel of resource persons included Dr. S. B. N. Rahman, Department of History, North Eastern Hill University, Shillong.
