A helpline for women and children has received more than 36,000 calls since it was set up in 2019, Social Welfare Minister Paul Lyngdoh informed today.
The children’s helpline number is 1098 and for women 181.
Lyngdoh said that out of the total calls, 477 cases have been registered, 158 cases are active and 304 cases are closed.
“The helpline calls we have received and the response has not really been bad considering that in a state where generally we tend to hide things and don’t go beyond the four walls of the house. But the fact that 36,000-plus calls were made since the establishment of this service was activated, shows the response is good,” Lyngdoh said.
