Three young athletes from West Khasi Hills have brought laurels to the district, winning a total of 7 medals at the National Arm Wrestling Championship 2025 held in Thrissur, Kerala.
Aisilda Thabah, competing in the 50 kg Hearing Impairment (HI) Standing Junior Girls category, clinched 2 gold medals in the left and right-hand events.
Anjelina Tynhiang, participating in the 55 kg Physical Impairment (PID) Sitting Senior Women category, secured 1 silver and 1 bronze medal.
Aibankyrmen Wanñiang, competing in the Youth Girls below 50 kg category, bagged 2 bronze medals, competing in both arms.
The athletes represented Meghalaya under the Meghalaya Arm Wrestling Association (MAWA) banner.
Upon their return, the West Khasi Hills Arm Wrestling Association warmly received the athletes, presenting them with flower garlands.
A special homecoming ceremony was also organized for Aibankyrmen Wanñiang by the Siejlieh Sports Social and Cultural Youth Organisation.
A formal felicitation ceremony will be held soon to honour the champions.
