In connection with the ban on single-use plastic, the district administration of West Jaintia Hills will conduct an inspection of shops in the Iawmusiang and Iaw Thymme areas of Jowai on July 8.
The ban on single-use plastic has been promulgated across the country under the Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rules 2021 and a notification by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change.
The district administration had already issued an order on June 15 banning the sale and use of various plastic products in the district.
