Ten Arm Wrestlers including three persons with disabilities have been selected to represent India to the 43rd World Arm Wrestling Championship which will be held at Antalya Turkiye from October 14 to 23, this year.
However, only three have confirmed participation at the championship as there are no sponsorship,Assistant general secretary of MAWA, Mainbor Khyriem said.
He said that the estimated budged for participation is Rs 35. 42 lakh and urged the government to extend help to the arm wrestlers.
The selected arm wrestlers are Alan S Marbaniang, Kishore Chettri, Everson Thangkhiew, Angel Merry Mylliem Umlong, Airikymenlang Lyngdoh, Margaret Pathaw and the three PWDs, Alexander Lyngdoh, Hubert Paliar and Banshan Terang.
Mainbor Khyriem will be an official for the participants.
