Mawlai MLA Process Sawkmie has questioned why the Trinamool Congress (TMC), which recently held a protest in front of Parliament in New Delhi, failed to raise the matter of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) on the occasion.
On Tuesday, the TMC protested against the deal signed between the Meghalaya and Assam governments to resolve their disputed border and also the Centre’s delay in including the Khasi and Garo languages in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.
Today, Sawkmie, a supporter of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government, wondered why the TMC members did not also raise their voices in favour of ILP, an issue which is also pending with the central government.
“This is a pure double standard. In the state you keep talking about ILP but in Delhi you dare not raise your voices on this topic,” Sawkmie said disparagingly.
