The Home (Police) Department of Meghalaya has transferred West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police Vivekanand Singh Rathore, said an official order.
“In the interest of public service and on the recommendation of the Civil Services Board West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police Vivekanand Singh Rathore, IPS (RR 2012) has now been transferred and posted as the Commandant of the 3rd Meghalaya Police Battalion at Sahbsein,” the order read.
As per sources, the development comes after the recent findings of the police inquiry into the July 24 mob violence in Tura, which revealed that the West Garo Hills district police took the situation lightly despite intelligence report of serious break down of law and order that may endanger the life of the Chief Minister.
The incumbent SP of South Garo Hills, Abraham T Sangma, has been moved on to West Garo Hills as SP and North Garo Hills SP Shailendra Bamaniya will take his place.
Dara Ashwaghosh SP (Traffic) will now head the 2nd MLP Battalion at Goeragre as Commandant where he takes over from Bruno A Sangma. He has now been appointed as the SP of North Garo Hills
Kamakhya Prasad, Commandant of the 3rd Meghalaya Police Battalion at Sahbsein will be posted as SP (Traffic).
