The West Garo Hills District Magistrate, Ram Singh, passed an order yesterday to enforce containment measures in the district from 5am of June 7 until 5am of June 14 with the same restricted and permitted activities as in the earlier order passed on May 30.
According to the order, essential commodities shops in Tura Main Bazar areas will open from Monday to Friday from 8am till 1pm while the non-essential shops are allowed to open on Tuesday and Thursday from 8am to 1pm.
The movement of vehicles will continue to follow the odd-even rule and all non-essential movement is discouraged and those violating the movement protocols or furnishing false self-declaration will be liable for penal action as per law, the order said.
The order also said that besides the weekend lockdown on Saturday and Sunday, the corona curfew from 2pm to 5am in the district will continue.
