The Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA) organised a webinar in collaboration with the Meghalaya AIDS Control Society (MACS) on the state consultation on the legal protection for people living with HIV, children affected by HIV and AIDS and most at-risk populations.
Twenty-eight people participated in the webinar, which was chaired by NA Khan, Member Secretary of the MSLSA, who briefly discussed the HIV and AIDS Act of 2017.
MACS Project Director Dr R Allya shared her experience and findings on behalf of MACS, which was followed by a keynote address by Dr Rajesh Rana, National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) National Consultant.
NACO Consultant Garima Sharma deliberated on the HIV and AIDS Act 2017 and there was also experience sharing by people from the HIV/AIDS community, who elaborated on some of the challenges they face. Shillong Bar Association advocate Swapna Ghosh Neogi also spoke on the legal implications and ways to establish better links with legal services for better access.
