Former Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma today stated that the Trinamool Congress in Meghalaya will amplify the resolve of the Mamata Banerjee-led party in fighting divisive forces in the country.
“We are embarking on a new journey along with the people of the beautiful state of ours. We are joining and aggregating our strength with Mamata Didi to ensure that we are able to amplify our strengths and further strengthen her resolve to fight divisive forces in the country,” said Dr Sangma at a meeting where more members joined the party.
He added that there was a need to come together and collectively unite in their objective of ensuring the country is capable of fighting divisive forces and ensuring the country’s well being.
On the prospects of the party in the coming elections in 2023, Dr Sangma said that he drew strength from the trust and confidence that they had in him.
“Their trust gives me motivation, inspiration and confidence. I also think that I have enough energy and strength,” he added. Earlier during the meeting the former CM expressed confidence in the TMC winning the elections and coming to power in the state.
On the question of the division of the Congress actually helping the National People’s Party, Dr Sangma said that multiple natural ramifications would be there but could be worked out.
“The whole political dynamic will definitely be different than what was supposed to be. The element of surprise will always be there. As far as the situation is concerned we are confident we will reach our goal of forming the next government in 2023 to serve the people and not fail them,” said Dr Sangma.
