Waterlogging caused by heavy rains along the national highway in Lumshnong has irked members of the Khasi Students Union (KSU), Narpuh circle, who have warned the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to shut down its toll plaza.
Whenever it rains heavily, thousands of commuters are forced to suffer due to water accumulation and the NHAI have not anything to get the issue resolved till date, the KSU said.
“There is no proper drainage system and waterlogging is commonly witnessed at various locations in Lumshnong and Kuliang. People have raised the matter many times but the authorities concerned paid no heed to the issue for a long time as commuters are forced to face inconvenience every rainy season,” circle organising secretary Skhemlang Lapasam said.
He said the KSU will be forced to shut down the toll plaza at Lumshnong if the NHAI don’t address waterlogging in one day.
