Following the sharing of unverified posts on social media concerning the Covid-19 vaccine, the North Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner has threatened offenders with legal sanction.
In an order issued today, the DC informed that it has been notified that rumours and false news are being spread concerning the vaccine whereby people claim, without any basis in fact, that the jabs have severe side effects and can lead to death.
The DC warned that such persons spreading such fake news are liable to be booked under Section 54 of the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897.
