Shillong, Dec 14: The 27th annual general council of the Seng Kur Warjri was held on Friday at Siejiong village near the New Shillong Township.
Members of the Warjri clan deliberated key issues concerning clan welfare, protection of ethnic identity and the preservation of traditional culture.
As part of the programme, meritorious students and individuals who have excelled in their respective fields were felicitated with awards and token incentives in recognition of their achievements.
Among those honoured were Everest mountaineer Rifiness Warjri; Calvin Donkupar Warjri, who earned a PhD in Zoology; Kynsailang Warjri, who secured sixth position in the first division merit list in BSc Microbiology; Riokesh Warjri, recipient of the President’s Medal for Fire Service; and Rufina Warjri, who attained eighth position in the first division merit list in the BCom degree.
Adding a sporting highlight to the congregation, a football tournament was organised as part of the celebrations.
