A block war room meeting was held in Asanang under Rongram C& RD block which was attended by health principal secretary, P Sampath Kumar, director of Health Family Welfare, Dr S Nongbri and West Garo Hills deputy commissioner, Ram Singh today.
Addressing the meeting, Kumar highlighted the dangers of Covid-19 and how it spreads in the community. He said that unvaccinated people have a hundred percent chance of getting the infection and urged people to give priority to vaccination and the Village Employment Councils (VECs) to take the responsibility to motivate the people.
Talking on the seriousness of the pandemic and the need to understand the situation, Dr. Nongbri said that vaccination is the only shield against the dreaded Covid-19.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that unvaccinated people are spreading the virus and even the highly educated people in Tura town are hesitant to take the vaccine.
Earlier, the Medical and Health Officers of Asanang and Babadam PHCs highlighted the vaccination status of Rongram Block.
