Shillong, Nov 25: An awareness programme on elimination of violence against women and children was organised by the Seng Kynthei Unitarian Union, North Eastern India at the State Convention Centre, Shillong.
Principal Secretary Sampath Kumar who delivered a talk on the subject called for collective action against violence, emphasising that “violence is not an act of courage.”
Kumar praised the union’s initiative, saying it plays a vital role in strengthening society. He stressed the importance of continuous awareness, proper counselling, and community education to drive lasting change. “Meaningful change can only happen through these efforts,” he noted.
He encouraged the organisation to persist in its efforts, stating, “If sustained, this can serve as an example to the world on how societies can be strengthened. Whatever we do will inspire the world.”
The programme aimed to spark purposeful action and highlight the need for unity in combating violence.
