Traditional heads of four villages under Elaka Sumer in East Jaiñtia Hills district have announced a black-flag protest on September 15 to highlight the poor condition of their road.
Earlier on June 16, 2020 residents of these villages that include Khahnar, Pala, Muknor and Kseh took upon themselves to fix the poorly maintained road constructed way back in 1980. Villagers have to even shell out money just to buy materials like stones to mend what they can to ease travelling.
Waheh shnongs of these villages said they had raked the issue time and again before the Meghalaya government, but to no avail. Though the PWD Khliehriat and the local MLA, Shitlang Pale had inspected the road, there has been no action taken and the road have been left to disintegrate, the waheh shnongs said.
The black flag protest march will start from Lad Sutnga to Khliehriat, it is informed.
