A vigilance team to check illegal activities affecting the Myntdu River, as directed by the National Green Tribunal, has been constituted by the West Jaiñtia Hills Deputy Commissioner.
The Additional DC (Revenue) has been appointed team leader. Other members include the Superintendent of Police, Executive Engineer of the Urban Affairs Department, CEO of the Jowai Municipal Board, representatives of the Jaiñtia Hills Autonomous District Council, representatives of Divisional Forest Officer (Territorial), president/secretary of the Synjuk Ki Waheh Shnong Jowai Urban, and president/secretary of ka Khooid Ya ka Wah Myntdu.
The vigilance team will conduct regular inspections to check any illegal activities and submit a report to the DC/District Magistrate for appropriate action as per the law.
