Ranjit Kar, a veteran communist leader and senior advocate of Shillong passed away today at Apollo hospital, Guwahati at the age of 70.
A condolence meeting was held at CPI office where members expressed their grief and sincere condolences to the bereaved family members at the untimely demise of Kar.
Kar took active politics as a student and formed the AISF unit of Shillong. He wrote a booklet titled ‘A brief history of CPI Meghalaya’.
“On his death, party has lost a talented leader who always stood for upliftment of marginalised section of Meghalaya. In his honour, CPI flag will remain half-mast at party office, Quinton road, Shillong,” CPI secretary, Samudra Gupta in a press release said.
