Shillong, Feb 23: Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli, the Apostolic Nuncio to India and Nepal, will arrive in Tura on February 28 for a two-day visit, making him the first Vatican Ambassador to visit Garo Hills.
The Nuncio’s itinerary includes a concelebrated Mass at the Cathedral on Saturday evening, attended by clergy from across the region. He will also visit the tombs of former Bishops and attend a reception at Sacred Heart Church, Chandmari, followed by a programme at the Sacred Heart Shrine.
On Sunday, a Pontifical Mass will be celebrated at 9:30am at the Sacred Heart Shrine Gate, with services in other Tura parishes cancelled to enable attendance. Auxiliary Bishop Jose Chirackal has urged the faithful to participate, expecting a large turnout.
