Shillong, Sep 25: Dr Yogal Kishore Mohanta, the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya’s PhD Assistant Professor from the Department of Applied Biology, has been included among the top 2% scientists of the world in 2025, as listed by prestigious Stanford University in the USA.
Dr Mohanta ranked 69191, with his main field as Enabling and Strategic Technical in nanobiotechnology, who has previously won many accolades for his outstanding achievements and plays a pivotal role in advancing microbiological research in North East India.
Celebrating his achievement, the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) said the achievement underscores the importance of dedicated research and the relentless pursuit of knowledge.
“His global recognition is a testament to his unwavering passion for research. His success shines a spotlight on the excellence of scientific research at USTM and serves as an inspiration for aspiring scientists. We eagerly await more remarkable achievements and breakthroughs from Dr. Mohanta in the years to come”, the university said.
Dr. Yugal Kishore Mohanta, PhD, is a trailblazer in nanobiotechnology, plant biology, and nutraceuticals. His work aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasizing sustainable solutions for societal challenges. His lab’s breakthrough in using black turmeric for herbal antimicrobial skincare exemplifies USTM’s mission to uplift communities through innovation.
Dr. Mohanta’s earlier project, MYCO-BIO, seeks to harness mushrooms’ untapped prebiotic potential by creating symbiotic microcapsules that could transform functional food development and was awarded the prestigious international Research Networking Project (RNP-2024) grant, – a collaboration with Professor Renald Blundell of the University of Malta.
